Bay offered 5-year deal from Mets. Close to signing! 12-24-09

An AL source close to the negotiations told me this morning that the Mets have offered Jason Bay $68 million over 4 years with an option on a 5th year. The source wasn't clear whether or not it was a vesting option, a player option, club option or a mutual option. The Mets may be trying to emulate their crosstown rival Yankees who had a big holiday signing last year with Mark Teixiera. Story is developing... stay tuned! |
